    Pasta 'raw' style
I took a class 2 weeks ago on Italian Raw foods, and ever since then have been craving the 'pasta' we had. Tight on $$ for summer, so instead of the spiral cutter I want to buy I got a 'Julienne peeler' and just made strips with that. Then I modified sauce recipe for what I had home.

Easy Peasy Stripper Dress of Doom.
Its a hack assed tutorial.. BUT! it should do the trick. If not ask the questions. And I will answer them.

You need 1-2 yards of stretch knit material,
a sewing machine (You don't even need an overlock)
    a scissors
    some chalk

    BIG image behind cut.

Fiber Friday: Vintage, and a yarn update.
    duckduck
Duck Duck, thick and thin white wool slub with a stripe of naturally dyed wool at the end. I spun it up with really giant knots/coils in it- many of them are over an inch across. For Fiber Friday. (available on my website)

Also, there is a handspun yarn update! Including fibers! It's mostly large lot sets- yarns with enough yardage to make decent sized projects.

I’ll take what’s behind door number three please.

It’s another cold morning here. My hands are little blocks of ice! I’m clad head to toe in wool (YAY WOOL!) and there is Ice (okay, frost) on my car. In a few short hours the temp should be up to 90f and it will be hot as Hades in the sun.

    Not buying it?

I offer photographic evidence. (Please do say a small prayer that my basil isn’t done for, I forgot to take it in last night.)

As much as I’ve been complainy about this house (Mentally ill ~ thanks Riin for hitting the nail with that one ~ hysterically ORANGE kitchen, dangling, ripped clear plastic in the studio; 50 degree temperature fluxes within 20 hours, not knowing anyone, and so on and so forth… I feel entirely blessed. I do. I feel lucky to have a roof over our heads. Especially one that doesn’t leak! Walls that don’t have toxic mold inside; water that we can drink, cook with and bathe in; and most of all a land-lord we aren’t related to. (FWIW, He’s been much kinder to us than our last land-lord. Cough.)

The first wave of post cards went out yesterday! If I had your snail mail addy by 3pm left coast time; the card is in the mail. There is still time people, I’m forever buying post cards for the kids to send. It’s nice to get something in the mail other than dreaded bills…. Plus, I have grand plans for your cards. Oh yes, yes I do. I plan to hang them all in the (cough) “studio” to help take away the rough edges! (So, I will need a metric butt ton of them)

diamond in the rough a diamond in the rough? Sure, I think so. With some time, postcards, elbow grease, insulation,(?!) and a nail gun it will be fab! I should get on it then, before the mercury reaches 90.

    XO!

So I bought this dress and these bloomers from her, I wanted the darker bloomers but some one reserved them before I got there, biotch. Aren't they adorable. I want that skirt too, I want everything she makes, I think I'll be making a lot of purchases from her in the future, I love her clothes.

    Lunches and dinners

I should be sleeping, but since my weekend is going to be super busy, I know I won't have anytime to post until at least Sunday evening.
I've been saving up my pics so that I'm not doing a million consecutive posts - in an effort  to not be too annoying.

Here's some of what I've been eating this week -

    Rasberry salad....

Not as exciting as I dreamt it to be - but tastey nonetheless.

    Quick note and some pics......
Just a quick note and some pics!

Crystal Lights Nylon Roving - this is the color that comes off a crystal in the sunlight... pretty huh!
    crystallightsone1.jpg

Banana Fibers - this is a one time only thing - people were asking for cheaper banana fibers so this batch is priced very cheap because it has not been washed or dyed or unknotted. It is simply as is.......
    naturaltwobanana1.jpg

Weather Cotswold Cross Lamb - this is a bunch of different colors - and super soft locks - great opportunity.

Love Cotswold cross Lamb - sooo sweet.  These locks are so soft and brush out to be beautiful!

Garden Fluff Cotswold Cross Lamb - there are a ton of these as I adore the colorway.  The ones labeled Fluff have been opened more than the regular as I got a little overzealous.  They are ready to spin at will!  If you want more closed locks then get the one labled just Garden........

So that is it - that is why I have been so quiet.  I have sat at this computer for three nights straight trying to get this update done.  And ya wonder why I usually do it on Sunday.  It is so much harder during the week.  It took all night just to take pictures!  300 to be exact.  Then a whole night to edit said pictures.  Then ... yeah... well.. it is just too hard to do after work.
And of course, now I also have house full of locks all ready to rock and roll for next Sunday - if all goes well.    I am tenative only on drying issues.  But I am doing my best to get back on track.  Anything that is dry on Sunday is going up!
    :)
Oh and the amount of rovings... well, I was breaking in the new dye pot and well, yeah, rovings are like samplers for me - didn't want to ruin any good locks.... so I tried the Superwash Merino that has been waiting to be dyed.
The Lovers Optim has been dyed for a bit - just waiting for me to photograph it!  It is so pretty in real life.... kind of deep red to light pink with color bits. Mad Love.
Let me know what you think of the new Superwash!
    Happy Spinning.

Create your own visited map of The United States

I'm taking "visited" to mean "having spent at least one night there". Although Washington wasn't a proper, or even an intentional, visit--the plane I was on was diverted there when we had an anthrax scare on the way to Japan in November of 2001. But I did spend the night in Seattle, so it counts. Other states I've driven or ridden through but not stopped in longer than to have a meal are Texas, Arkansas, Delaware, Oklahoma and West Virginia. Clearly I need to get out more. Especially to the west of here.

I've also visited four countries so far: Japan, England, Ireland and Canada.

    Veg Loaf & Mashed Potatoes
I haven't had a loaf-type dish for a looooong time. The last time I had one was a few years ago when I first went vegan and sadly, it didn't turn out all that well.

This, however, turned out very yummy. )

    Slowly but surely...
I'm plugging away on this week's update. I'm still not sure when it's going to happen. It might even be a weekend update so check in. I'm finally done painting the media room so I may be returning to the dye pots full-time again. Here is a shot of what I have managed to accomplish this week other than my commission work which I'm still plugging away on:

    The thing about hormones...
is that eventually they balance themselves out... and man, the last few days were rough.

I was chock full of "feelings" and Masokist knows that this sort of thing sucks. I thing I have regained my grip on my logic and have pulled myself out of a hole of fragile.

God, that was annoying. I'd almost broken into tears a zillion times in the last few days. I was just a mess.

That must have been what it is like to be Emo. Though at least I was reacting to real things... and the feelings were real, so it was good... build up the coping mechanism.

-- because I'm kinda taking the gloves off. I'm not so much going to wait for things to happen. My destiny is kind of mine... time to own it.
